Today, during my scripture study, I came across this:
"Yea, come unto Christ and be perfected in him, and deny yourself of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your heart, might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.
And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot."
(Moroni 10: 32-33)
I can't pick out one specific part that moved me, but I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of the Atonement. Without the Atonement, I would be a lost cause. I have made so many mistakes in my life, some on purpose and some not, but because of the Atonement I can be fully forgiven of all my wrongdoings. I know the Atonement is a process, and not a one-time process at that, but as it states in verse 23 of that same chapter "If ye have faith ye can do all things which are expedient unto [Christ]." If I have the faith in Christ to move forward with the process of the Atonement, no matter how difficult and daunting that process may be, I can be forgiven and found worthy to return to my Heavenly Father.
I am in amazement that someone, just one person, would be willing to lay down his life for all of mankind. By far, that is the most courageous act I can think of...and it was done by only one person! I am also in amazement at how much love just this one act demonstrates. I'd like to say that if I were asked to give my life for the entirety of man I would do so, but I don't know if I can honestly say that I would. But because just one person had that love for all of mankind, all of us have the opportunity to partake of the blessings found within.
